So one might have a Compassion Rating of D A very good rating! Each character will also select one of their Virtues to be their Core Virtue. This is mostly for storytelling and roleplaying purposes as it helps you to define what it is that motivates your character. While it will not have much bearing on the rules, it will influence which Chroma are available to that character. The Virtue of Spirit is an exception and is instead represented by a pool of points that can be spent for a variety of things, including Combat Maneuvers and channeling Chroma.
Skills Your characters also have 17 different Skills, which have Ratings just like Virtues. One key difference is that while all Virtues have at least a D6 Rating, not all Skills will.
You may be untrained in a specific Skill which is another way of saying that it has no current Rating.
Tests Most of the gameplay is centered on something called a Test. There are a variety of different kinds of Tests, but the most basic of them is a Skill Test. A Test is performed by rolling a handful of seven dice. In most cases, three of them will come from one of your Virtue ratings, and three dice will come from one of your Skill ratings.
This is called a success. The result of this die will be evaluated differently depending on the sort of Test you are performing. Chroma Chroma are the mysterious abilities and powers that the Skyborn are able to manipulate to amazing effect. They are not an exact science, and as a result, sometimes a Skyborn might channel too much Overlight through themselves while using the Chroma.
When this happens the Skyborn or the Chroma is said to have Shattered. These PDF files are digitally watermarked to signify that you are the owner. I was curious about this title when I added it to my wishlist, back when it was at the lower price.
No longer. I'll play and buy, something else. I bought this PDF back in October of , when it was relatively new. It did not. I next went to see if my Library still contained download links for the core book. It did, and as of this typing I can still download the original files I bought two and a half years ago. But apparently the old DriveThruRPG webpage for the core book was pulled, and now a new page shows the book relisted at the significantly higher price. Would anyone at Renegade care to explain?
I'm not upset, just curious. See more I can't recommend you spend that much in good faith even though I do think the game has much to recommend it. What a shame. Anyway, I'd love to hear Renegade's perspective here. Was also curious about this when I saw it in the New Titles feed. Thought maybe it was an updated version or an expansion until I saw the content of the description page looked about as remembered. According to the details here, it was last updated Jan 22, and is I too want to see their rationale for pulling the original listing off the store instead of pushing an update to the existing one and changing the price there if they thought it justified.
The mystery deepens. I do wonder if the document is substantially altered or if there's any new content, but like you I'm not going to drop a fifty to find out. No mention of mechanics? Convoluted setting that requires a full buy-in? The art looks good, but that's the only thing that doesn't look bad from where I'm sitting.
Wasn't this game already on DriveThru? It seems bizarre to reupload the game and charge so much for a PDF. It was indeed; see my comment above. I'd love to know what Renegade is thinking here. This is a disgusting price, especially as now many of us are running our games online. Even before the pandemic I tend to have both a physical copy and a pdf. After the release of OverLight v2 BETA, many things have been fixed on many servers, such as new crashers, car syncs, some exploit, etc… I will not release the v2 stable because many other things have been added or removed in some case , and makes it very different from this version.
The players who are using the old version v1 and v2 beta of the mod will be automatically notified to update it, and they will be redirected to the new version. It will also be released the source code, to help some developers to improve their mods or vice versa. The release of the mod will be within one or two weeks. I wish you good luck and a good cheating.
