Monica cooks a gourmet meal for a restaurateur who is looking for a new chef, however he arrives at the apartment stoned. Meanwhile, Ross tries to master 'dirty talk'. Phoebe feels neglected when Joey falls for her twin sister.
Chandler struggles to fire an attractive co-worker. The series revolves around a group of friends in the New York City borough of Manhattan. The original executive producers were Crane, Kauffman, and Kevin S. Bright, with numerous others being promoted in later seasons. They presented the idea to Bright, with whom they had previously worked, and together they pitched a seven-page treatment of the series to NBC.

Ross reveals a fantasy to Rachel involving a certain "Star Wars" character. In a race against the clock, Ross tries to get the gang dressed and ready for a black-tie benefit at the museum.
After breaking up with Richard, Monica uses her free time to make jam and consider insemination via a sperm bank. Ross panics when he sees his son with a Barbie doll. Phoebe poses as Joey's agent and gets him some good parts. Phoebe's half-brother visits, and they have trouble bonding.
When Janice asks the gang if any of them have ever slept together, the friends flash back to a time three years before. Monica buys a new bed from Janice's soon-to-be-ex-husband, but the wrong one is delivered.
Joey and Monica catch Janice kissing her ex-husband. The gang plays a game of touch football on Thanksgiving. Rachel quits her job after Gunther tells her she needs to be retrained.

The girls spy on a sexy politician neighbor, George Stephanopoulos; the guys take Ross to a hockey game. Phoebe finds a thumb in her soda can and is compensated seven thousand dollars; Monica dates a guy her friends like more than she does.
Ross finds out his ex-wife, Carol, is having a baby with her lesbian lover; Monica almost has a break down. After Rachel leaves Barry at the altar, she comes to live with Monica and meets the gang; Ross adapts to single life.
